Vattenfall – Turning Impactful Ideas into Action

Vattenfall's internal Green Team sought a fresh, engaging approach to transform their sustainability ideas into actionable experiments that could deliver measurable impact.
The team were keen to avoid "death by PowerPoint" as they wanted the sessions to inspire interacaction and engagment.
The objective was clear: deliver interactive, practical workshops that would empower the team to drive change effectively within the organisation.
What we did:
We designed and delivered a series of three immersive workshops, each focused on critical phases in transforming sustainable ideas into impactful action.
Solving the Right Problem:
The first workshop tackled effective problem identification, using the iconic story of "Jaws" and the malfunctioning mechanical shark to vividly illustrate the importance of correctly diagnosing problems before jumping to solutions. Participants engaged in interactive storytelling and exercises to deeply internalise this concept, setting a robust foundation for impactful action.

Prioritisation and Experimentation:
In the second workshop, we focused on structured project management techniques, prioritisation methods, and the power of rapid experimentation. Participants learned and applied a clear experimentation framework, transforming their sustainability ideas into actionable experiments. This practical, hands-on session helped the team identify the most impactful initiatives and set realistic, achievable goals.
Influential Communication:
The final workshop addressed the crucial aspect of communication, how to get others on board with new ideas. Using psychometric profiling tools, participants explored different personality types and communication preferences. Through an engaging serious game, teams practised tailoring their communication strategies to specific individuals' profiles, enhancing their ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
Impact:
The workshops significantly elevated the team's capability and confidence to translate sustainability ideas into practical experiments. The interactive, game-based approach ensured high engagement levels, fostering a proactive mindset.
Huge shout out to Cristel at Vattenfall and her team for trusting in us, she added:
“Additionally, I believe that after the three workshops, the participants left with the right mindset to take a hands-on approach in their projects. The workshops helped them better understand the problems they needed to solve and how to solve them. They were not only engaging but also inspiring.”
And hey, who said training couldn’t be fun? From malfunctioning sharks to serious games and tailored comms strategies, this wasn’t your average training series. The Green Team brought the energy, curiosity, and commitment and we just added a bit of storytelling, structure, and shark-based wisdom to help things click into place.
